1. Going For Epic, Falling Short

It’s admirable that Triple H tries to turn every feud he’s in these days into something truly top-shelf, a memorable rivalry with an epic showdown. However, not everything is deserving of a 20-minute promo multiple weeks in a row.

But that’s never stopped The Game from delivering a soliloquy in the ring. Last week, we got a lengthy “interview” with Michael Cole that led to an epic announcement of an unprecedented “hold harmless” contract signing. This week, we got that monumental contract signing, complete with Hunter giving a riveting explanation of the contract… and a brief but epic brawl.

(Please note the sarcasm in the above paragraph.)

This isn’t a bad feud. And Triple H isn’t terrible in trying to build this match up to be something big. But the doublecross happened in July. July. And there was nearly no follow-up until earlier this year. And now it’s a feud between a guy on a crutch and an executive who hasn’t wrestled since last year’s WrestleMania.

So you’ll have to forgive this writer if he isn’t biting at the “epic” promos entirely. This should be a good match and a decent feud, but it’s nowhere near the rivalry it’s being built up to be.
