5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 13)
Inoffensive, inconsistent episode bailed out by Becky, Rey and Cesaro.
If you tuned into Raw Monday night expecting a huge build to Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV, then you probably were disappointed.
You got overused tropes of wrestlers mindlessly climbing a ladder to grab a suspended briefcase that didn’t hold anything, simply because they could. You got four-way matches between competitors for no reason other than to fill time and space. And you got beaucoup video packages as Raw was taped from London Monday night.
Probably the most surprising thing was realizing later how many wrestlers weren’t on the show. No tag team wrestlers appeared Monday night, and the WWE Universal Championship match participants only appeared in backstage interviews, as did the United States Champion.
But hey, we got 15 minutes of Braun Strowman humiliating Sami Zayn before he was bailed out by two other men who did the dirty work. And we got 10 minutes of Baron Corbin, and a Mojo Rawley squash.
However, we did get a really nice match pitting Rey Mysterio against Cesaro that was worth checking out, and a women’s titles dual contract signing that really was the highlight of the show.
Generally, WWE needs to change something up, because it just doesn’t feel must-see. You could predict the four-way match, the 50-50 booking and certain other things. Watch the YouTube videos, read a recap and save yourself two hours of time.
