With Daniel Bryan on the shelf for the foreseeable future, WWE wisely chose to fill that gap with another long-haired independent league favorite facing off against Bad News Barrett. Having Neville step into that role proved to be an excellent move, showcasing the rookie in front of a typically smart Chicago crowd that immediately burst into NXT! and Lets go Neville! chants. The battle of British countrymen didnt disappoint. While on the one hand its frustrating to see Barrett lose yet another match, it would be far worse for Neville to suffer another defeat this early in his WWE career. He needed to take a step forward, and an upset win over Barrett which featured the usual high-flying moves and some power moves like a deadlift German suplex was a highly entertaining and effective way to do it.You have to give it up to the announcers, who sold it as a big win that put Neville on the map. Whether you believe it or think that a stiff breeze could beat Barrett these days, the announcers did their part. Hopefully this bodes well for Neville going forward.
