3. Usos, New Day Bring Crowd Back
After the deflating thud that was the end of the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, the PPV desperately needed something to get the fans back into things, and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match did just that.
The Usos and the New Day showed why they are two of the most decorated tag teams in WWE today, putting together a fast-paced, action-packed match that – while a little sloppy at times – had the live crowd buying into several false finishes. Kofi Kingston spent much of the match being a human piñata, getting launched over the top rope and suplexed into the ringpost. Big E put on a power display, catching Jey Uso’s splash attempt (with a slight botch) and nearly pulling off the victory.
In the end, the New Day looked to have things won with the Midnight Hour, but the Usos walked, taking a countout loss, which while a disappointing ending, means we’ll probably get a rematch either with no DQs/countouts or inside a steel cage. In short, the feud must continue. And that’s fine with us.
