5 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2017
An abysmal PPV that unnecessarily ended streaks and failed to deliver in the ring.
If you’re one of those out there who think Fastlane was a tremendous show and a major highlight on the Road to WrestleMania, you can stop reading now… and you probably should stop drinking heavily.
Fastlane was an absolutely abysmal show that failed just about every test. Average to poor wrestling, nonsensical segments, seriously questionable booking decisions… you name it, Fastlane had it. When Byron Saxton has one of his lesser nights at the announce table and he doesn’t make the list, then you know you’ve struck something.
Two big streaks walked into Fastlane: Charlotte Flair’s PPV title match undefeated streak, and Braun Strowman’s undefeated streak. Neither would leave Milwaukee intact. WWE turned to a rising star in need of a boost to topple Strowman… just kidding, it was Roman Reigns. Well, at least they gave someone a huge moment overcoming the odds to end Charlotte’s unprecedented PPV streak… just kidding, Bayley defended her already-won title with outside help.
At least they booked a tight PPV with plenty of quality matches… just kidding, we had two last-minute additions, including a 10-minute Jinder Mahal match. But hey, that Goldberg, his pyro’s awesome, right? At least he delivered, right? Right, as long as you didn’t blink.
It’s hard not to be negative when a PPV delivers such an awful evening of wrestling programming. If WrestleMania XXXIII is on par with this, you might see the main event playing to a half-empty stadium.
For now, let’s find out what connected with a Phoenix splash, and what had its win streak shattered. Let’s get to it…
