5 Ways The Undertaker Could Retire From WWE

By Martin Rowe /

In the aftermath of the ending of The Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak, the WWE Universe has had to ask itself a very uncomfortable question; will The Undertaker now retire from the WWE? There are many fans who would absolutely disagree with the premise of the question. The Undertaker retire? How could he? After all a WWE without The Undertaker would be a completely different WWE to what we have come to recognise and appreciate in the last twenty three years. Surely 'The Demon From Death Valley' will go on and on and on... Of course this significant group of the WWE Universe are entitled to their opinion and it is hard to argue against their reality that indeed a WWE devoid of 'The Dead Man' would be fundamentally different. However as we all witnessed at WrestleMania 30, it would seem that time has finally caught up with The Undertaker. Images of The Undertaker limited by age and injury being carried through a wrestling match by his opponent Brock Lesnar have served to exacerbate speculation that his retirement from the squared circle is not only imminent, but necessary. The clues as to The Undertaker's steady departure from full time wrester to fully retired legend have been there for all to see for quite some time. Coupled with his age, The Undertaker suffers from multiple chronic injures which even with the one WrestleMania match a year have served to negate many of his in ring abilities, and jeopardise his future health and well being. A severe concussion sustained at WrestleMania 30 is serious in itself, let alone sustained by a man who is nearing 50 years of age. Perhaps the WWE Universe needs to face up to the reality that The Undertaker has signalled with his gradual physical deterioration, his very light schedule and now following the end of the streak, that the man behind the gimmick, Mark Calaway, is ready to retire from professional wrestling altogether. As difficult as it will no doubt be for many WWE fans to accept, if it is assumed that The Undertaker is currently preparing to enter full retirement from the WWE, there will naturally be questions asked about how the WWE might proceed with one of its most high profile wrester retirements in modern memory. So as the mists of uncertainty shroud the future of The Undertaker's career, this article will examine five plausible ways in which The Undertaker could retire from the WWE.
