One of the most enduring and greatest parts of attending a live event is the crowd interaction. When a show gets really good or really bad, the fans attending love to show either their approval or their frustration, and chanting is one of the easiest and most fun ways to realise that interaction. In most American sporting events, chanting usually boils down to either yelling out "Let's go" followed by the name of the team, "Defense," or some other local taunt that gets brought up a few times in a season. Then of course theres The Mexican Wave, but the less spoke about that the better. In professional wrestling chants are not only frequent, but theyre very much a part of the show. When WWE visits the right arena, and the fans are really excited, the chanting can get so huge that the commentators are hard-pressed not to acknowledge them in the middle of a match. And as sports entertainment has grown and evolved over the years, so too has the nature and level of fan interaction: over those developing years, fans have grown to learn all manner of chants dedicated to just about every possible wrestling scenario and even beyond that. And all are connected in the great circle of life: fans hear them on television, recite them during the live events, and pass their engagement on to future generations. Some chants create amazing reactions that become part of WWE programming for months at a time, and others are merely joke chants that give the fans a good laugh when the match doesn't interest them. Others still are simply too obscure for the younger fans to understand. But no matter what the nature or the origin of a chant, when they're recited in full chorus, it is a wonder to behold, and a good show can become great in a matter of moments. While some are more historic than others, they all have a place in the hearts of wrestling fans across the globe.
