Battle royals at WrestleMania are not uncommon. The second Mania featured a 20-man battle royal between wrestlers and NFL players, and WrestleMania 4 opened with a battle royal, to name a couple.

But 2014’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was special because it was named after one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history. The inaugural battle royal also gets a vote of confidence because it actually has become a WrestleMania tradition. In that case, the first one deserves mention.
