It was the most divisive storyline moment of the decade to such an extent that discussions to this day rage as to whether it was logical booking of one of the company's strongest modern characters or a nonsensical waste of the company's strongest draw.

To some, it was awesome.

But that's perhaps why Vince McMahon decided to blow up a twenty year angle in such a manner - 'The Beast' will forever be his contemporary killer, and there was no title reign to destroy as impressive as The Undertaker's unbeaten WrestleMania run. The happiest of accidents crushed by the coldest of decisions. It was cruelty that remains powerful to this day - every babyface that beats Brock takes a little bit back for the fans devastated by this precise moment.
