There would have been a time, not so long ago, that a Bobby Roode versus AJ Styles feud in WWE would have been unthinkable. However, modern-day WWE are more welcoming to wrestlers who made their names in other promotions than they once were.

That could be attributed to the Styles success story. His phenomenal 18-month run may have given WWE officials extra faith that former TNA guys can arrive and be big players.

Styles and Roode have a history in TNA which would be great to revisit. They fought as both friend and foe, producing a series of excellent matches in their battle for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in 2011-12, which should not be a surprise as Styles has proven that he can put on outstanding bouts with opponents far less capable than Roode.

Sticking him with Styles in a feud for the United States Championship would be a safe place for Roode to start in terms of match quality, and also give him a notable position on the card to help him become recognised by those fans who are not as familiar with him.
