6. Edge's First Ever In-Ring Move Was A Spear
Adam Copeland debuted in the WWF with the moniker he’d keep for his entire thirteen-year career. While he’d eventually become Tony Chimmel’s favorite ‘Rated-R Superstar’, Edge starter out as a tortured soul with an imposing look and some fantastic facial expressions.
While the future Hall of Famer would sign his developmental contract in 1997 (and wrestle his first taped match against a young Christian Cage interestingly enough), his televised debut match didn’t take place until June of 1998 against Jose Estrada. While WWF had a few ideas in mind of where they wanted to take his character, nothing all that important or too character-defining had been set in stone yet - for example, his finishing move.
While the match didn't even end with a finisher, it did actually start off with one. Jose started off the match with some momentum, landing himself a few punches here and there, Edge torpedo'd himself out of the corner and hit a Spear onto Estrada - starting off his career with the exact same move that'd finish off most of his winning matches.
