6 NXT Tag Teams That Everybody Forgot About
6. The Legionnaires
Far, far too often are WWE guilty of giving non-American wrestlers one-dimensional gimmicks based solely on their nationalities. NXT has long been credited for its character work, but not in the case of The Legionnaires, whose sole attribute was that its members, Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Louis, were both French. It's a minor miracle that they didn't make the pair come out in blue-striped shirts carrying onions and baguettes...
Neither won a match on television, either individually or as a team, but they were given a comedy storyline against Enzo and Cass that saw Lefort take on the former in a hair-versus-hair match at Takeover: Fatal 4 Way in mid-2014. Though Enzo was victorious, Lefort evaded the match's stipulation and Louis was shaved bald instead, somehow turning him into a monster character that made quick work of Lefort before vanishing from screen after the Phantom of the Opera-inspired character was tuned out.
Both Frenchmen would make just a single further appearance (each as a tag team partner to Jason Jordan, incidentally) before being released, reuniting under the guises of Baron Dax and Basile Baraka in TNA as The Tribunal.
They failed to make much of an impact and lasted just nine months, however, and it remains to be seen whether either will get the opportunity to make waves in a major promotion ever again.
