5. It Could Potentially Encourage More Focus On Mid-Card Belts And Talent
Admittedly, things have been pretty good on this front lately. Ziggler has been a focus as a part of Team Cena for the past few weeks, with his title repeatedly put on the line by The Authority until he lost it on the 11/17 Raw, as well as with Rusev and Lana courting The Authority. But really, how long do you expect that to last? Once it's no longer convenient to the story at hand (what with the need for Survivor Series teams and all), everyone not at the main event level is probably going to go back to futzing around, getting worse the lower down the card you get. Ziggler, Sheamus, Rowan, Harper, Cesaro... they're all likely go wind up somewhere between the main event and a dire afterthought for the writers. Granted, that's not to say that getting rid of The Authority will definitely improve the situation, but it seems possible if not likely that the writers might have more room to improve the rest of the card if they aren't having to deal with Hunter and Stephanie all the time. Maybe secondary titles could even become important again! Remember when the Intercontinental Champion was considered a number-one contender for the WWE title? Probably not, because the last time that was the case, they were called the WWF (rough estimate). Or not. It is WWE, and optimism can only take you so far, but it's a gamble we'd gladly take to see more happening to keep our interest over the course of a three-plus hour show than the bookends and whatever the talent manage to do for themselves in between.
