6 Reasons Why WWE Needs An Off-Season

6. Injury Prevention

While the slogan “don’t try this at home” rings true due to the dangerous nature of the sport and injuries can happen at any time, it might happen less if wrestlers had more time off. There have been documented cases of wrestlers addicted to painkillers in the past due to a vigorous schedule of being on the road 300 nights a year.

Due to the nature of the sport, these athletes rarely, if ever, take extended periods of time off, and sometimes the extra rest could prevent potential larger and more serious injuries. Injuries are no doubt just another part of the wrestling craft, but these superstars aren’t machines programmed to do the bidding of Vince McMahon; these are people, and taking extra time off to heal nagging injuries could literally extend lives and careers.

It would also serve as an instant morale booster, as it gives wrestlers time not only to heal injuries, but to be home with friends and loved ones for months at a time as opposed to days.
