6 Reasons WWE Network Lost Record Subscribers This Summer
Are fans turning elsewhere due to WWE's decision-making?
WWE revealed during their Q2 earnings report that the WWE Network's subscription count has fallen from a record high 1.94 million to 1.63 million. The 1.94 number was released around WrestleMania 33 time, which makes sense due to the big push for new customers (and returning casual fans) to watch WWE's biggest annual show.
In the months since, that number has dropped, which is worrying when SummerSlam is just over the horizon. Could it be that people just aren't taken with the 'Biggest Party of the Summer' any longer, or is this representative of a wider issue? Have key decisions made since 'Mania caused fans to turn off and seek their wrestling fix elsewhere?
These are all questions that must be asked, because it's not good when The Wrestling Observer are also reporting record cancellations for WWE's on-demand service. Exactly what is causing this drop-off will be the source of intense discussion in WWE's board room.
