5. Jon Stewart Is The Right Kind Of Celebrity To Have Involved
Celebrity involvement in WWE can be hit or miss; sometimes theyre great while sometimes they can be terrible. Weve seen some great ones with the likes of Mike Tyson, Bob Barker, Donald Trump, and weve also seen some less successful ones like Maria Menounos, Kid Rock, Floyd Mayweather and Lawrence Taylor. John Stewart has the ideal combination of characteristics that make him the right kind of celebrity. He is a wrestling fan, as demonstrated by his appearance at MiTB 2014. He knows his wrestling history, going as far back as the days of Bruno Sammartino. He is an incredibly popular cultural icon who has made a career of balancing mainstream politics with humor and satire. But most importantly, He speaks in a way that sounds realistic and from the heart; his promos arent scripted word-for-word, allowing him to use a variety of references and one-liners to get his point across. Overall, he comes off as a genuine wrestling fan, which makes his involvement with WWE that much better. Stewarts interactions with Seth Rollins over the past few weeks have been great in helping WrestleMania and WWE transcend into the mainstream again. When Rollins interrupted the Daily Show recently, Stewart treated Rollins as a big deal. Going forward, WWE should continue to promote this rivalry as much as possible, in the hopes of keeping their mainstream momentum high leading up to WrestleMania. As a wrestling fan who knows his history, and who doesnt need a script to get his point across when interacting with other wrestlers, John Stewart is a great celebrity that will bring WWE a lot of attention and help boost WrestleManias popularity and contemporary appeal.
