WWE Money in the Bank takes places this Sunday, and once again the much-vaunted eponymous briefcase will be up for grabs. Six men and five women will do battle for possession of a briefcase each, with immortality in the history books waiting for the winner. That's the thinking, anyway.

Throughout the history of the Money in the Bank ladder match, it has been difficult to argue with the man standing victoriously at the top of the ladder at the end of the match. During the WrestleMania era of the match, Edge, Rob Van Dam and Mr. Kennedy each won it with clear plans in place for them afterwards. It didn't work out for all three - but the right man won on those occasions.

The same can be said for The Miz and Alberto Del Rio (among others) in the era of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The need to shock has led to some truly questionable winners, however - matches in which a wrestler came out on top despite a better alternative being clear to all. WWE has gotten Money in the Bank wrong on six occasions.

Will it do so again on Sunday evening?
