6 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Mar 3)
Rampage clicks; AEW forms a new alliance; Jungle Boy = The Undertaker?
This is the first episode of Rampage to get more 'ups' than 'downs' since 27 January, and it deserves every single one of them. Recent editions have featured bright spots, but Tony Khan's overall disinterest in AEW's second weekly has been laid bare by sagging ratings.
Whilst hours like the one served up to fans on Friday won't change that, it does make the show easier to watch for those still hanging on into 2023. Unsurprisingly, Rampage largely existed to promote Sunday's Revolution pay-per-view and tie up a few others odds and ends from the product.
Surprisingly, the 60-minuter was also used to encourage folks to tune into the PPV pre-show. Yeah, you don't usually see a ton of 'go home' build for Zero Hour matches, but here we are. That wasn't one of Rampage's positives, by the way.
Strong moments came from workers who maximised their TV time, others who smartly kept the main meat of their ongoing storylines for a later date, and the possible formation of a tasty alliance that could help someone become the full-timer fans crave.
