6 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 29 - Results & Review)
4. Mercedes Moné Has A Great Night
TWO women positioned as stars on the same show? Well no, actually, more than that, thanks in-part to the increased presence of the new TBS Champion and 'CEO' Mercedes Moné.
Moné opened Dynamite with her advertised Championship celebration, but the party was halted by a Skye Blue who revealed that she had been responsible for the lights out attack weeks earlier. That felt as rushed as the match between the two booked for the later in the show, but better a mystery get a payoff rather than simply being dropped completely. This was a problem-solving exercise too - a match between Mariah May and Saraya was postponed until next week, leaving Moné and Blue to step in and fill the hole.
Before that, a video package for NJPW Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer aired ahead of her working against somebody at Forbidden Door. That somebody turned out to be Moné, with the two facing off in person following the Champion's victory over Blue.
Vaquer appearing live after the video was a nice touch, as was the package itself if only to stave off the bad faith goons that surface in number around this specific pay-per-view.
