6 Ups & 4 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (8 July)

1. Deonna Melts Frost

Stemming from a backstage interview earlier in the night, Lady Frost (who Fightful Select had reported debuted at these tapings) answered Deonna Purrazzo's open challenge, coming up short in a competitive Knockouts Championship clash. That Frost was allowed to look on the same level as 'The Virtuosa' in the early going was a nice touch; she's clearly got something that a company like IMPACT could make tremendous use of.

A slick corkscrew roundhouse kick from Frost was the highlight here, before a failed Moonsault attempt led to the match-ending Fujiwara armbar. The tork Deonna achieved on the hold here was sickening to watch.

Deonna now moves on to face another mystery opponent at Slammiversary for the title, which came around after Gail Kim confronted Deonna after the bell. The Hall of Famer laid the news down for Purrazzo, stating that she and Scott D'Amore will be hand-picking her opponent for the pay-per-view.

At least one mystery opponent or open challenge was inescapable for Slammiversary, given the circumstances. It happened last year, with the Rascalz seeing their open challenge answered by a reuniting Motor City Machine Guns.

Expect someone like Mickie James or Chelsea Green to meet Deonna on 17 July.
