The Final Testament pretty much is a failed main roster act, having been jobbed out at WrestleMania 40 and then immediately sent down to NXT to wreak havoc.
Thankfully, the group actually might be really well-suited for that role. During a vignette Tuesday night, Karrion Kross described the group as “about to take you back to the good old days.” This set them up to show clips of Kross and Authors of Pain destroying opponents during their NXT runs and how they were bringing that destruction back to the developmental brand.
The NXT versions of both acts did dominate the brand, so referencing that and using it as a basis for their direction is a smart move. It might not work – Final Testament could still perform to silence or under-perform, but this might be their best chance to generate some heat and be useful in NXT/WWE.
If it helps the group find its footing and become a more viable act, then so be it. It’s definitely worth trying.
