“Television time on SmackDown used to mean something”.

That's a line Sami Zayn said when addressing the ludicrous notion that everyone on the blue brand wanted to take a Gingerbread Man mascot's supposed death last week seriously. GM Nick Aldis lined up a funeral service for the character, and told Trick Williams he'd have ample time to pay tribute to a fallen friend. It was all played for laughs, clearly, but...why is Sami the bad guy in all of this?

If anything, he spoke for the viewing audience frustrated with how things have been going on the second show. Going the comedy route has also totally derailed any momentum that Zayn and Williams were trying to build up in the wake (ahem) of their United States Title clash at WrestleMania 42. Others may feel differently, which is cool, but the Gingerbread fluff didn't hit for this writer personally.

Good news: Gunther coming after WWE Champ and recovering babyface Cody Rhodes did. Paul Heyman also dropped hints on a Cody heel turn and alliance in the future, which is interesting, and the 'Ring General's' challenge is all but set for Clash In Italy come the end of the month. That'll be a worthy headliner for the next European PLE.

Triple H handed a chunk of time to the women's division on this week's SmackDown. When it was good, it was really good, but when it was bad it sucked and came out looking like a waste of airtime. What's with all the samey heel groups running around as well?
