6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (10 April - Results & Review)
5. Danhausen Continues To Pull The Nose Up
The chap writing this piece was rough on Danhausen's debut back at Elimination Chamber. When the 'very nice, very evil' oddity burst out of a crate to little fanfare, it was implied that Hausen would have to crawl down to NXT if he wanted to remain in WWE's system. Y'know what? It's actually lovely to be so, so wrong.
Come this week's SmackDown, Danhausen beat Kit Wilson in a short comedy bout that featured a “pyro malfunction” when he cursed Kit and caused him to fall off the top rope. It was nothing essential in terms of trading holds, killer bumps or big spots, but the match was a fun ride and both know what they're on these shows to do.
Maximising your minutes and fostering a connection with the audience = good. Very good. Not evil at all.
Yep, Danhausen’s debut at Chamber was a disaster, but he’s starting to click in WWE and that’s great to see. Meanwhile, Kit alliance with The Miz is working for both of those guys as well. Credit to the latter for going above and beyond to help newbies out. Hunter could ask Miz to tear down the ring post show and he's ask where the tools to get the job done are. He's a real company man.
Critics will bemoan the ridiculousness of Danhausen sparking pyro from the corner, but you're supposed to find it ludicrous. He isn't a normal pro wrestler who does normal pro wrestler things. He's a curiosity who's only there to garner some laughs and shift a ton of merchandise. Thus fare, after a shaky start, this is going wellhausen.
