6 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (September 13 - Results & Review)
Ups…
6. Jon Moxley Vs Big Bill
Passable thanks to the crowd intermittently getting up for seeing their hometown hero rallying in the face of a bigger threat, Jon Moxley Vs Big Bill nonetheless finds itself in this half of the article because we don’t have a down-the-middle section.
There was nothing egregiously wrong with the action, but as has been the case with a number of Moxley’s singles matches of late, it never truly sparkled despite the undying glint in the International Champion’s eye.
Rote even when it was good, Moxley bled, chopped down the tree and found a way to win in spite of Ricky Starks’ interference. Broadly entertaining by default, r here was too little nonsense from Big Bill to elevate it above the norm. A post-match angle that built a Blackpool Combat Club/Starks & Bill tag match for Collision wasn’t that thrilling either, beyond again seeing how the BCC could juggle the uneasily-defined tweeter roles they’ve been forced into lately. It wasn’t up to much either. It never magically gets hotter again after the peak - the them or split them whenever the opportunity presents itself.
