6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 8)

Ups…

6. No Harm, No Foul

Monday featured the return of Shane McMahon to Raw, possibly his first appearance since the demise of Raw Underground.

The question was, why was he here? And would his return turn into the usual “all about the McMahons” pattern we’ve previously seen when TV ratings tank?

Strangely, that’s not at all what we got. And what we got was just odd. Shane-O-Mac came out to join Adam Pearce as he announced the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. McMahon patted him on the shoulder and congratulated him on such a great announcement and how it was all his idea, which led Pearce to shoot him a confused look (though we got a better understanding of that later when Sheamus laid into Adam).

Then as Shane was leaving the arena, Drew McIntyre confronted him about not getting a heads-up about the chamber match, only for McMahon to tell him it was a great opportunity to prove his mettle. And then that was it from Shane.

We’re gonna give this positive marks because Shane didn’t overtake the show or throw it awry, but there also was something deliberately “off” about his interactions that make you wonder if there’s something more here.
