As noted in the reviews of several matches above, the size of the 'Show Of Shows' never felt as ungainly as it did in 2019. The 16-match line-up (including four pre-show matches) just didn't look real ahead of time, but helped create what effectively proved to be an impossible challenge for the main eventers when the match finally arrived.

The babyface booking in all the three major matches felt like a concession to this, a suggested principle thinking that giving the people everything would ensure they gave the same back in return.

This missed a crucial point. It wasn't a matter of choice. Seven hours doing anything (and nothing) is tiring, let alone after the tears shed in the middle and a throaty, worthy bottle rocket of an opener...
