6 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Jun 18)
4. Well, O-Kayden
The Dakota Kai push-by-numbers continued apace this week, and again proved that pro-wrestling doesn't have to radically unpredictable to be enjoyable. This burgeoning feud between Kai, González, Catanazrro and Carter isn't one that's going to live long in the memory, but it is working for all four women involved.
If Carter's to be enhancement talent, then she needed something substantial to do while she's getting beat. If Catanzarro's to have a future in NXT, then she needs to get additional TV time, preferably with some more established stars. If González is to be received as a monster, then she needs to demonstrate physical dominance in eye-catching spots. If Kai's the long-term beneficiary of this story, she needs to win, and win well.
Two weeks in a row now we've had all four of these boxes ticked. Proved we get something resembling an entertaining payoff (and, y'know, it's more than 5 minutes long), then the whole thing's a success. Kai emerging from the undercard as a genuine challenger for the title wouldn't be the worst idea either.
