Not to knock Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins or the tag team scene, but after a solid opening match, a hot promo, a molten confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman, we closed Raw with… an eight-man tag match.

Ambrose and Rollins teamed with the Hardy Boyz to take on Sheamus & Cesaro and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a match with little in the line of stakes or high drama. There was nothing wrong about the match, aside from the fact that it was the main event of a Raw where much bigger, more consequential things happened earlier in the program.

Sometimes, that sort of thing will happen, but that doesn’t make sitting through a three-hour episode any more rewarding. This could have been a house show “send ‘em home happy” main event. It just felt like something that could have been skipped with no consequences.
