3. Nia Gets Some Shine

It might have come at the expense of the rest of the women’s division, but Nia Jax looked pretty damn strong Monday night, toppling four challengers before finally succumbing to Sasha Banks in a six-woman gauntlet match to become #1 contender.

Jax defeated Bayley, Mickie James, Dana Brooke and Emma in succession, beating the last two rapidly. When she splatted Dana like a jobber, the crowd roared, getting into the prospect of a monster running through the opposition. Despite her relative inexperience, Nia got through the first four opponents fine, and hung with Banks nicely in a pretty good David versus Goliath match.

It’s fair to say that Jax still has some work to do to become a well-rounded performer, but Monday’s gauntlet match showed that she still has a big upside.
