Conventional wisdom said that moments after being drafted to Raw, Andrade should have won his first match on the red brand. But then again, WWE has never been one to go with conventional wisdom.

However, in this case, conventional wisdom won out, as Andrade defeated Ali Monday night – with a little help from Zelina Vega. The match itself was fine and moved at a good pace, giving fans who don’t watch SmackDown regularly a good glimpse of El Idolo.

The outcome itself was heavily impacted by Vega, who first stopped Ali from diving to the floor, then later nailed a hurricanrana off the apron on Ali when the ref’s back was turned.

Sure, we could feel bad for Ali, who still seems stuck in first gear after a hot start many months ago, but at least he’s on TV – and not nicknamed “Shorty.”
