One has to wonder if New Day, Lucha Dragons and the Usos huddled together backstage before TLC began and decided that even if they were opening the PPV, they were going to steal the show. The three tag teams put on a car crash of a match that had fans out of their seats for much of the affair. There were too many highspots involving ladders to catalog, but simple things like using ladders in the groups signature spots the Usos hip checks in the corner and Kalistos monkeyflip splash added a layer of impact. But the highlight of the night had to be Kalisto hitting a Salida del Sol off the top of one ladder through another. It looked absolutely devastating, and it reinforced that just when you think youve seen every move possible involving a ladder, someone goes and raises the bar.Naturally, Xavier Woods got involved by throwing his trombone, which provided enough of a distraction for New Day to retain the gold. But after such an action-packed match, you almost had to expect some shenanigans at the end. Still, it was a fantastic way to open what was projected to be a dismal PPV.
