With only a few exceptions, most professional wrestlers are not great actors. Many are passable, but you arent going to find a lot of Oscar-winning performers on Monday Night Raw. Still, occasionally a wrestler will turn out a hammy, over-the-top performance that perfectly fits the situation. The Authority collectively nailed it Monday night with a heavy dose of fake sincerity in welcoming Randy Orton back to the fold. Stephanie McMahon started it off by trying to entice Orton to return to the Authority. (In a nice touch, Triple H was still stewing over the Sting encounter the previous night and didnt utter a single word.) But Big Show took it over the top in his pleadings with Randy, and especially during the main event as he stood on the floor, clapping and cheering Ortons every move. At one point, he yelled, Way to go, Viper! The ridiculous amount of clapping and preaching of teamwork from Authority members reeked of lulling Orton into a false sense of security. Whether its to ultimately turn on him or prevent him from striking against them, the fake sincerity was obvious enough to notice, but subtle enough to not detract from the match. Thats a rarity in the wrestling world.
