6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Feb 23)

4. Revisionist History

Look, WWE has to concoct a reason for Sting to want to face Triple H at WrestleMania. You can€™t just have the WCW Icon show up unannounced, point at a sign and expect everyone to blindly accept it. Despite having months to plan this out, the best WWE writers could come up with was one of the lamest reason conceivable. To hear Triple H tell the story (and JBL parrot it), Sting is jealous of or angry with The Game because he was one of the main reasons why WWF/E put Sting€™s WCW out of business in 2001. That€™s great if you ignore that WCW€™s last victory over WWF/E in the Monday Night Ratings War came in December 1998, a full eight months before Triple H won his first world title. When things were still competitive in mid-1998, Triple H was leading D-Generation X against the Rock€™s Nation, but they were team players with guys like Steve Austin, Undertaker and Mankind leading the way.History€™s written by the victors, and this is a great example. But does this make a Sting/Triple H match more appealing? Maybe to longtime, hardcore fans, but they€™d be the ones to call out the rewritten history.
