Excitement levels for NXT TakeOver: Chicago were pretty low, with Dave Meltzer and others openly saying the card was the most disappointing TakeOver effort in a long while. The show ended up blowing all expectations out of the water, the match of the year candidate between Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne being the definite highlight. The night also ended in shocking circumstances, as Tommaso Ciampa brutally turned on former tag team partner Johnny Gargano.

What does all of this mean for the next NXT TakeOver? NXT returns to Brooklyn over SummerSlam weekend in August for the third time, and the developmental brand has a whole heap of options in front of it. Barring televised changes, the champions will be the same for the third straight TakeOver. Who will step up to challenge Roode, Asuka, and The Authors?

NXT has its deepest roster yet, with Drew McIntyre, Kassius Ohno, Aleister Black, and Andrade Almas all missing from the Chicago card. Will equally big names be absent in Brooklyn? Don't bet on it. The Brooklyn card will more than likely only feature five matches, but NXT should think about bumping that number up to seven for arguably its biggest show of the year.
