7 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (March 31)
2. Goldberg Is Turning Himself Heel Again
Goldberg is fairly switched on.
He has carved out a lucrative career as a main event-level talent without taking anywhere near the number of bumps of his peers, and has enjoyed an Indian summer with his latest WWE run. And yet, comments made this week have depicted him as totally moronic.
He's played the game as well as anybody, but he has failed to grasp the slowly rising tide of resentment threatening to submerge him in Orlando. He appeared on the inaugural episode of Edge and Christian's podcast this week, on which he portrayed himself as a whining, entitled, tone deaf heel. Even though he has taken precisely two bumps since returning, the experience of winning (what is presented as) the top prize in the company after less than five minutes of wrestling has made him miserable. His body can't take the gym, apparently, but he presses on because he has an already very wealthy family to consider. The man was a football player. His body has suffered its fair share of wear and tear. But still - what?
How can he say that with a straight face, oblivious to the fact that the nostalgic feel good factor from Survivor Series has almost dissipated? His detachment from the pulse aside: Why is he intent on undermining his invincible persona?
Yes, the comments were made on a non-canon podcast - but it's the sort of podcast the hardcore fans in Orlando will seek out. He has since clarified the comments on his Twitter account, but he dug himself an even deeper grave. "I'M MISERABLE PHYSICALLY BECAUSE IT TAKES A MONUMENTAL EFFORT. I STRIVE TO BE THE BEST..... RESULTS ARE GREAT BUT IT DOESN'T MEAN THERE ARE NO BUMPS ALONG THE WAY."
No bumps.
No bumps.
No bumps.
