It is one of the worst kept secrets in World Wrestling Entertainment, but John Cena and Samoa Joe go way, way back. When Cena was started out in the business he worked with Joe at Ultimate Pro Wrestling, a Los Angeles based promotion that served as something of a scouting pool for WWE. Other notable alumni from the promotion include Edge, Brian Kendrick and Frankie Kazarian. Various interviews are floating around the internet where Joe and Cena speak of their time spent together here. Cena speaks fondly of Joe and his mother's cooking, where as Joe speaks of Cena's commitment to learning and improving himself in the business. Their careers have taken different paths since, with Cena rocketing up the WWE roster on his way to becoming the biggest star of the modern era, and Joe dominating the indies before finally making it to WWE this past summer. WWE has a great history of putting together meaningful video promos, and I would love to see what they come up with here. The match itself would be more than intriguing. Joe would surely bring his none-more-intense style, and Cena would have to do the same. It seemed like it would never happen as recently as a year ago, but John Cena vs. Samoa Joe is more than a possibility as 2015 comes to an end.
