7 Possible WWE Title Matches At WrestleMania 34
7. AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
Right now, with John Cena’s absence, Randy Orton is technically the top face on SmackDown. The word ‘technically’ is used because anyone who watches the show knows the top face is the self-proclaimed Face Who Runs the Place AJ Styles. Ever since arriving to WWE in January of last year, Styles has remained the consistently over member of the roster thanks to his status as a MOTYC factory, and his surprisingly A-plus work on the mic.
Randy, meanwhile, despite being one of the company’s top stars, struggles to maintain momentum of popularity for long periods of time, often falling into lulls of indifference from the crowd. Part of it is his fault, as Randy is often quick to revert to autopilot when lacking motivation, but another is the fact that as a face, the audience struggles to care about him. Whereas as a heel, Randy has more to work with, and the audience remember why they like him so much.
Still, the company is high on both men, as both have held the WWE Championship in the last year. In the build to WrestleMania, the two had a very good match on SmackDown, with Orton playing the face, and Styles the heel. Don’t put it past WWE to have Randy win the title back from Jinder Mahal down the line and potentially turn heel again (as Randy would prefer) so that AJ has a proper nemesis.
After putting Chris Jericho over at 32, and carrying Shane McMahon to a 4-star match at 33, many fans would agree WrestleMania 34 is the perfect place to give AJ Styles a WrestleMania championship match he deserves.
