How Can I Watch It: Bret Hitman Hart: The Dungeon Collection (DVD) The matches between Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam 91 and King of the Ring 93 set the benchmark for quality in the 90s WWF, with their pair of famous matches still holding up well to this day. In many respects they are perhaps even better when watched back with eyes jaded from the experience of being a modern wrestling fan. This bout from 1989 was the template for those. While many of the same spots crop up, the match feels completely fresh and is gripping from first bell to last. It was one of many examples where Hart was sent out to deliver in a singles outing and did so with aplomb, but it was Hennig rather than Hart who was rewarded with a push to the moon. Hart would have to remain a midcard tag team wrestler for another two years and be content with the occasional chance to prove himself, again, in solo outings when the opportunities arose.
