3. It Would Garner A Boatload Of Domestic And Foreign Attention

One of the key things in a viewer/subscriber central product is buzz. In wrestling you can create buzz in a lot of ways. Primarily a buzz is created by booking the product in a way that people A) like what they are seeing, b) can€™t wait to see what happens next, and C) feel like anything can happen on a week to week basis. Announcing an unprecedented, inter-promotional, champion vs. champion match, between one of the most beloved performers in the United States and one of the most popular performers in Japan, is definitely a way to show everyone who follows wrestling that anything truly can happen. Nobody believes such an inter-promotional match is possible. As much as they€™d love to see it, they simply can€™t envision a scenario where it happens. People also thought there would never be an Avengers movie. They thought a Justice League movies was a pipe dream. They never thought they€™d see Sting in a WWE ring, or The Rock return to action in the WWE for one more match, and certainly not four. The best parts about being a wrestling fan is when the impossible becomes reality. That€™s when the most buzz is created, and more importantly for the WWE, that is when the money starts raining in.
