Part of Bray Wyatts charm, and the reason why so many people wanted him to succeed, is that the character is supposed to have a mission statement, a focus. The Wyatt Family is a backwoods cult, after all. Theyre not just scary because theyre big, scary guys, theyre scary because theyre after more than just gold around their waists. They want you. Somehow, since the inevitable falling away with the beginning of the Cena feud, thats changed. This isnt necessarily Windham Rotundas fault hes still playing the character with utter conviction, and is never less than compelling on the stick. But the last few months have seen no method behind his madness. The man who claims always to tell the truth isnt making sense anymore. Wyatts promos skip around the point like buzzing flies these days. Instead of having the ring of truth, they often contradict themselves from week to week. And without that consistency, that drama to hang his character on, its harder to suspend disbelief (which was already tricky enough after the possessed child part of the John Cena storyline). Without an easy suspension of disbelief, we start asking questions. Like, if wins and losses dont matter, then why is he putting himself into pay-per-view matches?
