7 Things We Learned From WWE Payback

By Chris Mueller /

WWE Payback was, by most accounts, a great pay-per-view for WWE. Despite not having a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match on the card, the company managed to pack the show with memorable moments and some really great wrestling matches. The two biggest matches on the card featured Bray Wyatt taking on John Cena in a Last Man Standing Match and The Shield taking on Evolution in a No-Holds Barred Elimination Match. Both bouts delivered some insane spots that were very dangerous and a lot of excitement. The outcomes to the matches may not have surprised many of the people watching at home or in the arena, but the way the matches were won is what will stick with fans for quite awhile. John Cena managed to keep Wyatt down for the 10-count by burying him under some stage equipment and The Shield had a clean sweep over Evolution. All the champions who defended their titles walked out with their titles, Hornswoggle left without his hair and Rusev left as a Russian hero. It was night that wasn't filled with many surprises, but featured some great wrestling from WWE's top talent and their up and coming Superstars. This slideshow will look back at WWE Payback and examine some of the things we learned and where things may lead heading into Money in the Bank.
