6. Al Snow Helped Piece The Match Together
Little known fact time.
Before King Of The Ring, Shane approached Al Snow and asked him if he'd fancy piecing together most of the pay-per-view match. This started in late-May once it became clear that McMahon and Angle would be working together on the June special. Al, who had experience in hardcore matters, was flattered to be asked.
He was the one who helped teach Shane that Shooting Star Press he performed onto a trash can at KOTR, and he also admitted during Untold that Kurt didn't do as much training as McMahon. That wasn't a problem. Angle was far busier in mid-2001, and he was working hard every night on the WWF house show loop.
When he did have some free time, Kurt dropped by to train with Al and Shane. All agreed that it was important the match had a hyper-violent, dangerous atmosphere, otherwise it'd be just another match on the card. Nobody wanted this to be a flop.
