7 Things WWE Killed Forever At Hell In A Cell 2019
The Fiend's credibility wasn't the only thing that died at HIAC.
In November 2018, days after WWE’s shambolic Crown Jewel event, WhatCuture’s Michael Sidgwick heralded the start of the promotion’s So-Bad-It’s-Good Era.
The tagline fit the times. Crown Jewel was a hilarious mess “highlighted” by Shane McMahon being crowned ‘Best in the World’ and Kane’s wig falling off in the obligatory old codgers’ main event, though things have improved significantly since that low-water mark. Raw and SmackDown have been solid and steady lately. NXT still operates on the cutting edge. For the most part, main roster pay-per-views are fun rollercoaster rides with stunning, adrenaline-pumping highs and relatively few lows.
But not Hell In A Cell 2019. This catastrophe of a show may have single-handedly revived the So-Bad-It’s-Good-Era. Fleeting highlights aside (Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch, Erick Rowan & Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns), it was an insulting mess that not only rendered the past two-to-three months’ investment pointless, but may have killed off a bunch of marketable commodities in the process. A horror show.
The follow-up is as critical as always, though WWE will prove themselves miracle workers if they’re able to salvage the wreckage strewn across their product after HIAC 2019…
