7 UFC Fights Brock Lesnar Could Take Next
7. Roy Nelson
Roy "Big Country" Nelson might just be the people's champion of the UFC. The rotund heavyweight is a fan favourite who loves to knock opponents out, despite possessing a high-level grappling game, and has a chin that is frankly legendary. Though he has never come close to the title picture in the UFC (peaking just outside the top five), he's still the 10th ranked fighter in the world, and is coming off a loss to Derrick Lewis that many, including his fellow heavyweights Junior Dos Santos, Ben Rothwell, and Antonio Silva felt he should have won.
He's also a very similar fighter to Mark Hunt. He's Hunt, essentially, with a better ground game and submission ability. So if Brock Lesnar intends to fight again, and wants to take things slow, Nelson could be a good option. He's neither a step forward nor a step back, just sort of a step sideways, with a bit of a different skill set. This is the option Brock and his team should go with if they're serious about sticking around for a while and letting Lesnar's skills develop.
The danger for Brock? Pretty much the same as with Hunt - getting caught with a big right hand - plus the possibility of a submission. However, Nelson hasn't used his Jiu-jitsu often in the UFC.
It should be noted that Nelson has expressed interest in fighting Lesnar. This could work.
