7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (2 Mar)
3. Cole Wins Revolution Warm-Up
Building excitement for Sunday's main event between 'Hangman' Adam Page and Adam Cole was the primary goal of last night's main event. To that end, it succeeded. Cole and Page looked great opposite each other, playing on Cole's inferiority complex as he endeavoured to only engage on his own terms, while 'Hangman' was as full of fire and fight as he always is.
Cole and reDRagon fought like the well-oiled heel unit they have been since coming together in WWE. Able to isolate Alex Reynolds and John Silver for extended periods, their cohesion was critical to the finish, too, as Reynolds was left helpless to avoid the match-ending Boom thanks to the successful neutralisation of his allies.
More impactful was the post-match. Taped to the ropes and forced to watch his Dark Order allies being beaten down, Page was made an example of. A superkick all but knocked his lights out before Cole mockingly put the AEW World Title on his shoulder, slapped it, and closed the night on top.
The character dynamic is on the money here, raising hopes that there'll be plenty of meat on the action's bones.
