Fyter Fest's first week was a triumphant Dynamite special that may have stood amongst the best AEW shows of the year if not for the lack of noise.
Savannah, Georgia was muted throughout. Compared to recent AEW audiences, they were ice cold, barely getting up for even the show's most exciting moments. The pops dribbled when they should have erupted, "this is awesome!" chants came at half-volume, and everything felt flatter as a result, from the opener to the main event.
Perhaps this was a production issue, with AEW failing to mic and mix the crowd correctly, or perhaps Savannah was that quiet in person. Nonetheless, it put a dampener on an otherwise excellent show.
AEW presented a stacked lineup featuring two title fights in TNT Champion Wardlow vs. Orange Cassidy and The Young Bucks' Tag Title defence against Swerve In Our Glory and Team Taz. Elsewhere, Konosuke Takeshita met Jon Moxley in an Interim World Title eliminator, Serena Deeb fought Anna Jay, Jake Hager and Claudio Castagnoli called back to their WWE days, and there were advertised appearances from Chris Jericho and Christian Cage.
