7 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jul 21)
The surprises keep on coming as Ethan Page and Josh Alexander's run comes to an end.
After a truly sensational Slammiversary pay-per-view, all eyes were firmly on Impact Wrestling to see exactly what direction the company decided to go in following one of their most talked-about shows in history.
Not only did Brian Myers (the former Curt Hawkins) join his released WWE brethren in coming to the Impact Zone, but Ethan Page and Josh Alexander's record-shattering reign with the World Tag Team Championships came to a crashing halt in a monumental main event that many were labeling a dream match. Alongside the show-opening X Division Championship rematch between Willie Mack and new champion Chris Bey, the in-ring action for this episode was, for the most part, excellent. Not quite Slammiversary levels, but still decent nonetheless.
Aside from the wrestling aspect, however, this episode focused mainly on developing stories, particularly those involving championships. Eddie Edwards and Moose have seemingly both found their championship rivalries going forward in the form of Eric Young and EC3 respectively. Young got into a heated confrontation with Edwards while he was celebrating his title win, whereas 'The Essential Character' sidelined 'Mr Impact Wrestling' after he had retained the TNA World Heavyweight Championship over Fallah Bahh.
It doesn't look as if the company will be slowing down either, with a huge World Championship clash and the in-ring debut of The Good Brothers both signed for next Tuesday. Let's get to it...
