Saturday, WWE held Crown Jewel, a disappointing show that managed to underperform despite the lowered expectations that come with a bought Saudi show. The wrestling was average at best overall, and the storyline developments were lacking.

Fast-forward to Monday night and Raw turned in a solid show that avoided many of the missteps from Crown Jewel and even in recent weeks. The result is a show that was easily the best of Raw’s latest two-hour era. Things moved along crisply, with two of the four matches going fairly well, a major storyline falling into place nicely, and a couple of smaller angles advancing positively.

There are several moving parts right now on Raw, and everything got a bit of attention. We now have number one contenders for both of the brand’s top singles prizes. The New Day look to be headed for some rocky waters. The women’s tag champs are in for some testing from the Judgment Day. And the chaos that Bronson Reed has brought to Seth Rollins found some new targets.

Raw might not have been blow-away great, but it was an easy watch and revealed some interesting developments for its top angles. You can’t ask for much more with a taped show.

Let’s get to it…
