7 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (Oct 21 - Results & Review)
2. Nicely Pivoting FTR Out Of The Title Picture
House of Black putting a halt to FTR vs. Bad Thad Brown & Darian Bengston before it even got going, was an incredibly smart move - particularly where it pertains to Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
As mentioned by Nigel McGuinness, Dax and Cash look somewhat naked without gold around their waist. During their time with AEW, FTR have been synonymous with titles; be that the AEW Tag Team Titles, the ROH Tag Team Titles, the IWGP Tag Team Titles, or the AAA Tag Team Titles.
So strongly have FTR been positioned, it's hard to not see Harwood and Wheeler in the title hunt during any time that they happen to not be champions. As such, by having House of Black attack FTR on Collision, that nicely achieves several things - most notably, if gives a reason why the title-craving FTR aren't immediately looking to reclaim the AEW Tag Team Titles from Ricky Starks and Big Bill.
Of course, this also throws up the prospect of some mesmerising matches between FTR and any variation of Brody King, Buddy Matthews, and Malakai Black. Likewise, there's the possibility of a trios match where Dax and Cash could call on, say, their real-life buddy Adam Copeland or tie their HOB issues in with Bryan Danielson and the Blackpool Combat Club.
Speaking of which, McGuinness again didn't miss a chance to throw some shade Danielson's way, highlighting how Brody King simply put on a cast and 'got on with it' when he suffered a similar arm break to the one which put Bryan on the shelf following Forbidden Door.
