The Rock wasn't in the house for this week's episode of SmackDown, but WWE still had plenty of star power in store for the live crowd. Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes worked a face-to-face, names like Seth Rollins and Jey Uso showed up as backup, and even Dominik Mysterio jetted in for some blue brand action elsewhere.

All of that, as well as some stunning work in the women's division and a cracking on location vignette, made SmackDown feel lively. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for two tag-team matches, or the baffling lack of energy surrounding Logan Paul vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens. Creative is dropping the ball a little there, which is rather concerning considering how good LP's latest US Title defence could've been.

Oh well.

There's a nice buzz to WWE telly at the moment overall though. Even some of the midcard bouts on tap for 'Mania weekend have been treated with respect by the writers, and that isn't always the case heading into the final push before these major stadium shows.

No Rock, but a whole load of roll. Here's all the good and bad!
